HOW MUCH WILL IT COST? For Fertilizer and Weed control services we price our services on the square footage of your lawn. We measure lawns online using Satellite technology. We find our prices comparable to traditional chemical treatments for small to medium sized lawns (1,000-6,000 sq. feet). For the larger lawns (over 6,000 sq. feet), our prices may be a little higher than the traditional chemical treatments. Keep in mind that since natural/organic products break-down slowly, we only need to apply 3 applications per year. Chemical treatments are typically applied more often, and many of their programs include 6-8 applications per year. While our per treatment price might be a little higher, you may end up paying less since you don't need as many applications. Our company does not cut corners on the quality of our products, nor do we use cheap synthetic substitutes.
When you break it down we can apply our fertilizer and weed control programs for less than $0.03 per sq foot.
HOW WILL YOU BILL ME? Invoices will be emailed out after you have chosen a program and approved your estimate.
DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS? Yes. We accept Visa and Master Card as well as Bank E-transfers. When your estimate for services is approved an invoice will be emailed to you through our online Yardbook CRM system with a link to pay online securely.
HOW WILL I KNOW YOU TREATED MY LAWN? Similar to chemical companies – we are required by law to leave a sign warning you to stay off the lawn which the Provence of Manitoba requires us to leave. When we apply our soil amendments and fertilizers we will leave a note in your mailbox or door.
OVER SEEDING SEEMS EXPENSIVE - IS IT WORTH IT? While the cost of having your lawn Overseeded may seem expensive to some. However it is an investment in your lawn's future. Lawns with thin grass or bare spots are perfect targets for weeds and pests. In nature, plants produce seed to reproduce themselves and spread new plants. Grass that is mowed regularly has no opportunity to produce seed and create new grass plants. Over time, your lawn will need new grass introduced to help fill-in thin areas and bare spots. It is far less expensive to overseed regularly than to replace your lawn with sod. We use a direct seeder to add high quality blended grass seed to your lawn, This seeder allows us to place the seed directly in contact with the soil for a much higher germination rate. And unlike slit seeders it does not rip up your lawn to lay down the new seed.
CAN YOU OVER SEED MY LAWN IN THE SPRING? We typically recommend late Summer (September/October) overseeding. We do offer Spring overseeding, however we find grass both germinates and matures best under late Summer weather conditions. During the late Summer time of the year we begin to have cooler nights and regular rainfall. Late Summer overseeding offers plenty of time for newly planted grass to germinate (typically 12-14 days) when kept moist, and begin to mature before the winter frosts arrive.
Homeowners will need to water early Spring planted grass throughout the entire Summer on a consistent regular basis. Which will increase the overall all in cost.
WHY DO YOU ONLY AERATE DURING THE FALL? We only provide lawn Aeration service in the Fall. This is primarily due the fact that Spring Aeration can create the perfect situation for Crabgrass and weed seeds to germinate. Considering the high potential for an influx of weeds we prefer to only aerate lawns in the Fall.
DO YOU REALLY NEED TO MOW HIGH? Yes. This is the single most important aspect of Natural/Organic Lawn care. When you mow your lawn too short (under 2 inches), you are reducing the surface area of the grass blade which is able to absorb sunlight, and ultimately feed the plant. In addition to providing the grass plant with more nutrition, grass blade length is directly related to root depth. Longer blades equals deeper roots. Short grass also allows sunlight onto the soil, where weed seeds can begin to germinate. Tall lush grass will help shade out weeds.
MY LAWN IS NOT GREENING UP AS QUICKLY AS CHEMICALLY TREATED LAWNS. WHAT'S GOING ON? We feed the soil biology and they feed the plant. Traditional chemical fertilizers release their nutrients very quickly, creating excessive plant green-up without giving time for strong root growth. Our natural/organic fertilizers and soil amendments are derived to break down slowly to provide steady plant and root growth. Natural/organic lawns green-up beautifully over a longer period of time than the chemical fed lawns. Actually, clients who have used our natural/organic Lawn care services for several years tell us that their lawns are usually the first to green-up in their area every Spring.
When you use traditional chemical fertilizers think of it as putting your lawn on fast acting drugs. The more chemical fertilizers you use the more your lawn will require to look good. And the more weed control your lawn will need because the soil is not healthy enough to support your lawn by itself.
DO YOU PROVIDE A GUARANTEE? We do not provide any specific guarantees in terms of results, as there are many variables that go into lawn performance (i.e. soil composition, weather conditions, homeowner maintenance, etc.). We do promise to be responsive and stay in touch with you to help meet both your needs and the needs of your lawn. We have some customers who have left us feedback and have kindly allowed us to share their experiences.
WHAT DOES YOUR COMPANY DO TO REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE? Our lawncare programs reduces your “carbon footprint” by taking CO2 from the air, sequestering it into the soil. Natural/organic lawns require much less watering, We mulch our lawn clipping other than during weed season and Spring/Fall cleanups therefor supplying your lawn with additional nutrients, We compost all yard waste at our facility reducing what goes to our landfill. We buy our products in bulk, and purchase many products locally. We email invoices and send most of our information to clients electronically, resulting in less paper products consumption. We limit the use of equipment that use fossil fuels.
